Hello. Welcome to my page!

Hi there. I'm Deron. Welcome to my page. If you dislike all things immature, turn back now. Stnf This page is no place for you. I plan to spend my life working with children, and I hope my attitude reflects it. So there. Nanner nanner. Well anyway, this is the part of my page where I tell you about myself. I hope you won't mind. It's nothing personal, really, it's just that this is the sort of thing that one is supposed to do on a web page. Here goes. I'm a student at Stanford University. I didn't like any of the majors that they had to offer, so I made my own. It's called "Animation Technology". I'm well in to my senior year now, which is a little difficult to believe. I feel like I should be a lot younger than that. I think I am, in truth. At the very least I intend to act young for a long time.
Speaking of not acting one's age, one of my favorite activities is the one, the only, the truly embophone incomparable, Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band. I play alto sax. I joined during the spring of my sophomore year. I walked in and they handed me a saxophone. They said to me, "This is a G. You can figure the rest out from there." Before then, I had never read a note of music in my life. Now, thanks to the good will of that merry band of minstrels, I do so regularly. Sometimes. Sorta. Mostly.
The other big consumer of my time is SEAS, the Students for Environmental Action at Stanford. SEAS is our campus environmental group, and we do reps logo SEAS logo everything from teaching recycling habits to campaigning against environmentally unjust political organizations. I coordinate the campus's Residential Environmental Representative network, a group that works to educate students in their dorms about environmental living issues. Folks in SEAS tend to be overcommitted, allowing themselves to be drawn into the attempt to save the world. Some would say that this is poor time management for a college student. But I figure, someone's gotta save the world, so it might as well be us. I'll care about grades later.
When I'm not doing SEAS or Band, the odds are I've signed up to do some other activity for the weekend. Or I might be buzzing around on the internet. If I'm lucky, I'm playing cahds with my friends. Then, if all that is taken care of, I guess I'm down to academics. You can tell that my top priority. My career dream, unfaltering since about age fourteen, is to produce, perform, direct, write, and do absolutely everything related to educational children's television. The only problem with that is that I have this annoying inclination to be an engineer. (Well, sometimes. Though usually not during my engineering courses.) Hopefully my major makes a good combination of it all. I've included a copy of my resume here. I'll be graduating soon (I hope), and I'll be looking for a job that combines computer technology with art and media. If you happen to be preparing to hire someone to do that kind of thing, I'd be much obliged if you would take a look. (I'd especially like it if any of you children's television executives out there who happen to be browsing the web today would take a look.) That's my picture, so you know. I usually look happier than that.
As you might have guessed, I'm something of a fan of the muppets, and puppetry in general. I've even done a litle of that kind of stuff myself in a video I produced for a class. I've decided to put off applying to film school for a year. That means I'm looking for something to do for a year: environmental work, computer graphics stuff, a television internship, something like that. If you have any ideas for me, let me know. (See resume above)

This is what my class schedule looks like for Winter Quarter:

And now for something really different...

This is the Line Around the World. It's an effort to get people all around this beautiful planet of ours to be nice to each other. And while we're at it, we might as well meet other great people on the World Wide Web. The way it works is this: A list is being kept, in exact order, of people who've registered to be part of this line. Each person connects to the people in front and in back of her/him on that list, forming one long line around the internet But the great part is that all the people who include themselves in this line are honor-bound to go out of their way to perform an act of goodness. This could be anything from giving 5 dollars or more to the charity of your choice to making lunch for the homeless man out on the corner to complimenting everyone you meet for a month. It's different for different people, but all these people want to do something to make life happier and better. If you might like to join, simply click on the line for more information.
